Henri Poincaré defines mathematics as the art of giving the same name to two different things. In the machine learning world, we are trying to do exactly that. Since 2019, I am glad to be part of Johan Suykens' research project E-DUALITY (ESAT-STADIUS, KU Leuven), focusing on the quest of synergies and equivalences between models, in particular kernel methods and deep learning. Better understanding machine learning can lead to more robust and fair models, as well as a better accuracy.
After a discovering parlementary debate during a trip to Beirut in 2018 and deploring its absence in Belgium, we decided to found the first french-speaking debate club in Belgium with 3 friends. In 2019, Rugir was born. We strongly believe that parlementary debate is one the most complete form of public speach as it allies both improvisation and preparation, repartee and lyrism, strong arguments and good structure, individual and team work.
What a better outlet than sitting at the piano for a good hour! Bach, Schubert... but also composing. Constantly learning is a motto and this is why I actively follow a counterpoint and harmony course every week.
